Make Sure Your Have Your Seasonal HVAC Maintenance Soon

Make Sure Your Have Your Seasonal HVAC Maintenance SoonAnother hot and humid summer season is just around the corner here in South Florida, so you should be scheduling seasonal HVAC maintenance on your air conditioning system now. Getting your system a tune-up in time for summer will give you the piece of mind that your system will run trouble-free throughout the long home cooling season. Once summer arrives, it can be difficult to schedule a maintenance call because HVAC contractors tend to be busier during this time.

Having a reputable and reliable HVAC technician come to your home for seasonal HVAC maintenance is vital for keeping your air conditioning running smoothly. A lack of preventive maintenance can allow little problems in your cooling system to grow into bigger problems later on. An accumulation of problems could create a situation where your valuable investment may need major repairs or replacement. They say a little prevention is worth a pound of cure, and that’s very true when it comes to HVAC systems.

A great start on preventive maintenance starts with you. By inspecting your air filter monthly and changing it when it looks dirty, you can keep dust and other debris out of your system and prevent it from circulating throughout your home. A clogged filter forces A/C equipment to work harder to keep air flowing, costing you more money in energy costs plus increasing wear and tear on system components.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star program, a typical A/C tune-up performed by a qualified technician should include:

  • Checking the A/C system’s thermostat settings
  • A lubrication of moving parts
  • Testing and tightening all electrical connections
  • A check of the drain condensate for clogs
  • Examination of system controls to make sure they function properly
  • Cleaning the air conditioning evaporator and condenser coils
  • Measuring refrigerant levels and checking for leaks
  • Tuning of the blower system for efficient airflow into your home
