5 Easy Ways to Reduce Dust in Your Martin County Home

5 Easy Ways to Reduce Dust in Your Martin County HomeThere’s no way to rid the world of dust. However, several negative health consequences can arise from exposure to too much dust, including flu-like symptoms and respiratory problems. For this reason, it’s essential that you do the best you can to reduce dust buildup in your home. Here are some simple ways to reduce dust, so you can start breathing easier today:

5 Ways to Reduce Dust at Home

  • Clean your floors and surface areas using only water or a product that’s free of toxic chemicals. It’s best to dust with a damp cloth, as dry dusting can waft dust around your living space.
  • Use air cleaners to remove some of the dust in your environment. Equip your HVAC system with a high-efficiency air filter, making sure to clean or change it every month (or as recommended by the manufacturer). Consider getting an air purifier as well, especially if someone in your home has allergies or respiratory problems.
  • Wash your bedding weekly in hot water, and put allergen-free covers on your mattresses and pillows.
  • Air seal cracks, gaps and holes around your home with caulk and weatherstripping to stop dust and dirt from coming inside through these entry spots.
  • Replace carpeted areas with tile, hardwood or another type of dust-resistant flooring if possible. If you’re unable to replace your carpets, be sure to vacuum at least two times per week, preferably using a machine with a HEPA filter.
