Try These Green Heating Options in Your Home

Try These Green Heating Options in Your HomeAs a homeowner, you’ve probably considered becoming more environmentally responsible. Well, now is a great time to not just talk the talk but to walk the walk. Green heating is a great way to get started. Here are a few ways to integrate energy saving techniques to your heating this winter:

Solar Power

When it comes to renewable energy, the “go-to” for many homeowners is the use of solar power for their needs. The sun is a constant source of energy, which means you’ll never be short of this more energy-efficiency source of power. This system has an initial cost attached that concerns some homeowners, but since solar panels typically last at least a couple of decades, the benefits more than outweigh the costs.

Geothermal Power

A geothermal system utilizes a series of pipes, known as loops, to draw the naturally-occurring heat from beneath the Earth’s surface. This has the ability to heat your entire home in a way that is more energy-efficient than a traditional heating system. Like with any of these choices, call a certified HVAC technician to install systems properly.

Radiant Floor Heating

Who hasn’t stepped out of their bedroom on a chilly morning only to be met with the stinging shock of a cold floor? You can put a stop to all that – and heat your entire home – with the installation of radiant floor heating. These panels are often placed under tile flooring but can also be used with other flooring types, such as laminate.

Masonry Heater

If you’d like to be the unique home on the block, then you just might want to install a masonry heater. These wood-burning, specialized fireplaces are expensive, but they’re also very durable and will warm your home for an extended period of time without using a lot of energy.
