Common Reasons Why Your Palm Beach A/C is Blowing Hot Air

Common Reasons Why Your Palm Beach A/C is Blowing Hot AirThere could be several reasons why your A/C is blowing hot air. This A/C guide will outline some of the most common reasons so you can check before calling a qualified Palm Beach HVAC repair contractor.

  • Wrong thermostat setting – Before you check anything else, make sure your thermostat wasn’t accidentally switched off or to heat mode – it happens!
  • Dirty air filter – Unrestricted airflow is central to your home’s central A/C system. A dirty air filter will cut off airflow to the coil, causing performance issues. Your filters should be changed every 30-60 days.
  • Outdoor condenser problems – Check that your condenser is running and not making odd noises. If the condenser is off, it could be as simple as resetting the breaker or as complex as the compressor being bad.
  • Faulty or overheated compressor – The outdoor condensing unit contains the A/C compressor, which compresses and controls the refrigerants flow through the cooling unit. Replacing or repairing the compressor is a large job that’s best left to an expert with the right tools and licensing.
  • Low refrigerant levels – A/C leaks as small as a pinhole can allow vital refrigerant to leak out. If this is occurring, you’ll need to get an expert to fix and recharge the system.
  • Improper maintenance – Can you recall the last time your system was serviced or cleaned? If not, it could be in need of some help. Check your outdoor condensing unit – are the cooling fins clean and straight? Is the A/C unit sitting level? There are a number of other factors that can be fixed by a simple maintenance visit.
